It’s Thanksgiving morning and what better way to celebrate your gratitude than taking a hike in Redwood City with your loved ones? We are so fortunate to live in the Bay Area where there are tons of fantastic trails nearby. If you live near Palo Alto or Redwood City, I recommend checking out the Purisima Creek Redwoods, Monte Bello Preserve, Wunderlich County Park Trails, Huddart County Park Trails, Edgewood Trail, Whittemore Gulch Trail, Arastradero Preserve, Stanford Dish, and the Baylands. Your family is bound to enjoy immersing themselves in the beautiful nature at these trails!
Here is some fun Thanksgiving day related math problems for your kid:
1. After looking into the different locations and trails at each hiking site, your family chooses to go to the Purisima Creek Redwoods near Redwood City. The trail is 7 miles round trip.
a) If you and your family complete 2/3 of the hike, how many miles did you hike?
b) How many kilometers is this? (1 mi=1.61km)
2. You have a wonderful hike that leaves you and your family super hungry! You go home and enjoy a delicious lunch of pumpkin, brussel sprouts, lentils, and rice. Your family ends up eating 3/4 of the pumpkin. If your brother ate 1/4 of the pumpkin and you, your mother, and your father had an equal amount of pumpkin, how much of the pumpkin did you eat?
I hope you enjoyed these math problems and Happy Thanksgiving! May it be filled with peace, love, and gratitude.
